Anthony is the victim of a terrible hit-and-run accident, although that doesn't stop Nicole from trying to get him back out in the field. Katie gets Alex Brown and Alfonso Boone more in touch with their softer sides, but not before upstaging Kevin in an interview with QB Carson Palmer, who turns out to be a friend of Steven's.

An old producer makes a visit, and after a little too much lip from a stubborn Anthony, the usually stable-minded Nicole loses it. The team is in peril as Kevin loses his will to report, Steven damages his eyes due to unnecessary lasik eye surgery, and Al and Anthony are chased by a singing Olympic skier who seems to show up everywhere. The remaining Sports Action Team members must fight to regain eye sight, get Kevin back, and escape from their stalking singer-songwriter.

Romance is not really in the air as Katie is invited back to her small hometown of Waterloo, Iowa, to receive the key to the city and is courted by her old high school boyfriend while Anthony and Al fall in love with IndyCar star Danica Patrick after being sent to interview her. Steven is left to produce the IndyCar piece in Nicole's absence and does his best to corral a disastrous day at the races. In Waterloo, Katie has to break it to her old flame she's not really into their new relationship and Kevin searches for the owner of a baby left with him.
